Waterfront Leisure Centre Survey in Woolwich

Bluelime was appointed by Martin Arnold to undertake the survey and design work for Waterfront Leisure Centre in Woolwich, delivering the project for the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Located beside the Woolwich Ferry, the leisure centre is a substantial and complex site. Bluelime combined SLAM LiDAR surveying and drone capture to efficiently record the building and provide the accurate information required for the next stage of the project.

The Challenge

The scale of Waterfront Leisure Centre meant that traditional survey methods alone would have required significantly more time on site.

Using a combination of terrestrial LiDAR and aerial survey techniques allowed our team to capture large areas of the building efficiently, including external elevations, roof areas and complex internal spaces.

Our Approach

The project was completed entirely by Bluelime’s in-house team and included:

• SLAM LiDAR surveying to rapidly capture detailed internal and external building data
• Drone surveying undertaken by Bluelime’s licensed in-house pilots
• Processing and coordination of survey information into an accurate digital representation of the building
• Revit drawings produced in less than two weeks from instruction

Combining multiple capture methods enabled the team to survey a large and challenging site while maintaining the accuracy required for subsequent design work.

The Result

Bluelime delivered the completed survey and Revit drawing package within a particularly tight programme, providing Martin Arnold and the Royal Borough of Greenwich with the information required to progress the project.

As a well-known leisure centre serving Woolwich for many years, the project also marked the documentation of an important local building at the end of an era for the site.
