Thermal Drone Roof Survey at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre

Bluelime carried out a thermal drone survey at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre in London to help identify potential areas of roof leakage.

The site provided an unusually good setup for drone operations, with a rooftop platform allowing our pilot to maintain clear visual line of sight throughout the survey. This gave the team an excellent vantage point while operating around a large and complex roof structure.

The Challenge

Thermal surveys rely heavily on the right environmental conditions, making this project particularly challenging during a period of hot summer weather.

To capture the most useful thermal data, the survey began at 5:30am, before direct sunlight reached the roof and surrounding buildings began to influence surface temperatures.

Our Approach

Using a specialist thermal drone, Bluelime captured detailed imagery across the roof to highlight temperature variations that could indicate potential moisture ingress or areas requiring further investigation.

Starting before sunrise helped minimise the effects of solar heating and provided clearer, more consistent thermal information.

The Result

The survey provided the client with detailed thermal data to support further investigation into potential roof leaks, while demonstrating the value of careful flight planning and timing when surveying complex buildings in central London.
